  • Mule Deer Trail, our driveway, and the front of the house. Satellite dish stays. We built the house behind a small knoll, and sitting on the covered front porch watching the birds and critters has been a real joy.

  • view rear of house and prow
  • View of the rear of the house, showing the walkout basement, garage, one of many rock walls, solar panels and prow. The wrap-around deck is made from ipe, also known as ironwood. This page provides good information and links about ipe.

  • View South from deck including Mt. Evans and Bierstadt ("both 14ers").

  • view of Continental Divide from deck
  • Looking West the panorama includes the Continental Divide and Bard Peak Group. Notice the easy road access by mountain standards.

  • greatroom
  • Greatroom with cathedral ceiling, and gas fireplace. Beams are glue-lam, floor is ceramic tile resembling granite, with radiant heat. For window coverings we used double cell window shades, and Warm Windows®.

  • kitchen
  • Partial view of kitchen looking toward greatroom. Breakfast nook on right just out of picture. Walk-in pantry is on the left. Floor is linoleum. Energy efficient appliances can stay. Livestock NOT included.

Lot is approximately 3.8 acres, an old mining claim, but is partially surrounded by National Forest, so it seems even bigger.

    cempo

When we were designing the house, we chose Cempo Forms®. Cempo is made of Portland cement and recycled polystyrene. Cement is then poured on site into the forms. Cempo had the green qualities we wanted, as well as being fire and wind resistant. Cempo is also energy efficient and has excellent sound absorbing qualities. This is what it looked like before the stucco was applied.
